Brainspotting in Maryland — Online and Statewide
Does Brainspotting work over video?
Yes, unusually well — the method needs your visual field, a fixed gaze point, and an attuned therapist, and a video session provides all three. We find your brainspot with an on-screen pointer or your own gaze, and you process from your own space, which for deep trauma work is an advantage: your nervous system settles fastest on home ground.
That's what makes a statewide practice possible. Whether you're in a Silver Spring apartment or a town on the Eastern Shore with no trauma therapist for forty miles, the session looks the same.
Who I work with in Maryland
My practice centers on complex and relational trauma, sexual assault recovery, anxiety and panic, and the patterns that start in childhood — parentification, people pleasing, the childhood that looks fine from the outside. Brainspotting is one of three core modalities here, alongside somatic parts-work and expressive arts, and I'll tell you honestly in the consultation which fits what you're carrying.
I'm licensed in Maryland and in five more jurisdictions — D.C., Virginia, California, Illinois, and Texas — so DMV clients who cross borders for work or family stay covered, and a move within my six states doesn't end the work.
Trained Brainspotting therapists are scarce outside the cities, and even in Baltimore the search usually ends at a waitlist.
I'm Logan Brantley, a licensed clinical social worker with accredited Brainspotting training, and I offer Brainspotting entirely over video to clients across Maryland — Silver Spring, Bethesda, Baltimore, Frederick, Columbia, Annapolis, and every town between and beyond.
What Brainspotting is
Brainspotting is a brain-body trauma therapy developed by psychologist David Grand.
It works from where your eyes naturally rest: we find the eye position connected to something unprocessed — a memory, a panic, a stuck point — and your brain gets access to material that talk alone can circle for years.
My main Brainspotting page walks through sessions in detail, including the honest answer on how it compares to EMDR.
About my training
Brainspotting Levels 1 and 2 under Georgiana Mora, LCSW, and accredited Phase 1 training through Awaken Consulting Services, inside a practice built around brain-body work: somatic parts-work through The Embody Lab, doctoral-level expressive arts, and the mind-body coursework I teach graduate clinicians at Bastyr University.
Questions Maryland clients ask
-
No — sessions are entirely over secure video, anywhere in the state. Brainspotting works well online. The method translates to a screen naturally, and processing from your own space tends to go deeper, not shallower.
-
Some people prefer in-person, and if that's you, a local practitioner is a fine choice. Online makes sense if you want your own space for processing, a schedule without commutes, or a therapist whose practice centers on complex trauma rather than Brainspotting as one offering among many.
-
Then this is built for you. Trained Brainspotting providers cluster around Baltimore and the DC suburbs, and video erases that geography — Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore get the same session as Bethesda.
-
I see clients over secure video in California, Illinois, Texas, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. Sessions are $160, $200, or $250 on my equitable three-tier model — you choose what's sustainable. Superbills provided; I partner with Thrizer. The first 20-minute consultation is free.

A free 20-minute video consultation is enough to ask your questions, hear how I'd approach what you're carrying, and decide nothing under pressure.
